Finding the right bra style
Now that you know your size, here comes the fun part: picking the right bra style for your bust! There are so many different styles including plunge bras, full cup bras, moulded bras, non-moulded bras, front opening bras, wirefree bras, strapless bras, balconette bras … the list goes on! But how do you know which style will suit you? That’s where your expert Brava bra fitter will be able to assess your shape and provide recommendations.
Choosing the right bra material:
Similar to knowing what style suits your bust, it’s important to be aware that not all materials will suit your bust. If you experience bust fluctuations throughout the month you’ll benefit from a softer lace cup that stretches when needed. We love the Panache Ana Plunge Bra and the Prima Donna Madison Full Cup Bra for their stretchy lace on the cups.
If you're fuller busted you'll be able to wear a moulded style, however if your bust has less breast tissue on the top you might prefer a non-moulded style.
The fabric is also very important when selecting the right sports bra for your needs. If you’re going to be getting very sweaty during your workout you’ll benefit from a breathable fabric that works to keep you dry and wick sweat away, such as the Panache Sports Bra. If you’re doing more low impact activity such as yoga, you can select a style such as a the Parfait Wave Front Opening Sport Bra.
Buying a bra that fits well
There are two main considerations when selecting the right bra for you; do you want to wear an underwire bra or a wirefree bra? Women prefer each style for different reasons and varying support levels. Underwire bras provide support through a metal wire that runs along the side of the cups and is coated with a soft material for ultimate comfort. You’ll find better support and bust separation with an underwire style compared to a wirefree as your bust is totally encased within the underwire and cups. Shop all underwire bra styles online here. A wirefree bra style will still provide you with support (as long as you’re in the right bra size!), great for those days when you want to relax and don’t feel like wearing an underwire style. These have been so popular during the Winter months when we tend to spend more time at home and have been a lifesaver for those of us who work from home. Shop wirefree bras online here.
Tips for wearing a bra and how it should fit
Make sure every time you put your bra on that you’re doing it properly to ensure you’re comfortable and your breasts are looking their best!
- Pull your breast tissue from the sides to fill the cup
- Make sure the underwire sits securely beneath your breasts
- Straps should be snug on your shoulders but not causing discomfort
- Band should feel firm and be horizontal across your back
